"Pleasant Goats" follow Disney's site selection and theme park

Disney's arrival in Shanghai has sparked concerns among local animation companies. Yesterday, a reporter contacted Guangdong Power Culture Communication Co., Ltd., the producer of "Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf." Shao Haowen, director of the company's publicity department, revealed that the popular animated series is currently planning to build its own theme park, which is already under construction. The future competition in the animation industry is expected to become more intense. Shao Haowen mentioned that the "father of Pleasant Goat," Lu Yongqiang, is currently abroad. He believes that Disney's influence is not something that happened overnight, and its presence in China will certainly intensify the competition. While it's hard to predict exactly how much impact Disney will have, Shao said that the entry of global animation icons like Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck could affect the pricing of domestic animation-related products. However, the company remains confident about its future. According to Shao, surveys conducted last year showed that in some regions, "Pleasant Goat" has even surpassed "Mickey Mouse" and "Donald Duck" in the minds of children. This confidence drives the company to expand both domestically and internationally. Building its own theme park has long been a dream for Lu Yongqiang. The company is now conducting detailed assessments of the project, focusing on profitability and business models. As Disney expands into China, "Pleasant Goat" is also making efforts to enter overseas markets. For example, the show is now broadcast on MTV Children's Channel in Southeast Asia, covering 17 Chinese-speaking countries in the region. The company is now targeting Europe as its next expansion goal. Shao emphasized that building a theme park requires more than just two cartoon characters. The company plans to produce one or two 60- to 80-episode animations each year, while also introducing content for different age groups. It is reported that the company will release two new TV animations next year: 120 episodes of "Little Heroes" and 52 episodes of "The Seven-Colored Warriors." Additionally, the second puppet show, "The Three Delights of Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf," will premiere in Guangzhou this month. Regarding the theme park, Shao did not disclose details about the investment, scale, or funding sources. However, the park is expected to feature cartoon doll performances, game booths, amusement rides, and family-friendly areas, aiming to become a "children’s paradise" similar to Disney. The company has selected cities such as Guangzhou and Dalian for the theme park, with plans to open the first location in the northern market. This strategic move reflects the company's ambition to compete on a larger scale and solidify its position in the evolving animation industry.
