Rick Owen first launched a horsehair slippers with Birkenstock
Fashion designer Rick Owens has launched three sandals designs in collaboration with the sandal brand Birkenstock, using a combination of felt, pony and grainy leather. The collaboration series is based on Birkenstock's classic styles Arizona, Madrid and Boston, adding Rick Owen's personal elements. The following is the first exposure of the horse hair.
The partnership marks Birkenstock's first invitation to a personal designer to collaborate on the Birkenstock Box project, which is said to be a way of collaborating with different retailers in different global cities.
The brand's flashing locations include Berlin retailer Andreas Murkudis, New York Barneys and Whitney Museum and Milan Concept Store 10 Corso Como.
