LACOSTE launches "POLASTIC POLO" designed by MICHAEL YOUNG

This special collaboration with Michael Young is the second of LACOSTE's holiday collectors. Every year, Lacoste chooses a designer outside the fashion industry to “reinterpret” the most anticipated polo shirts and challenges the production methods and production. process.

Michael Young has been one of the most successful and influential figures in the designers of the same period. His early work, woven steel, was incorporated in 1992 by the Centre Pompidou and the Louvre. His "Mid Nineties" furniture series designed for Tokyo E&Y was purchased by the German Museum of Die Neue Sammlun and the London Design Museum, and he was hailed as the new model for creating furniture designs. In 1995 he founded MY-022 Design Company in London. , focusing on "Eurolounge Sticklight" and "Magis Dog House". In 1997, designer Terence Conran respected Young as the British designer who inspired him most. Young is currently based in Hong Kong and has designed a new bicycle for Giant, designed bartending products for Schweppes Beverage, and a range of Georg Jensen jewelry.

Plastics has always been Young's favourite material. This time for LACOSTE, he wanted to try to combine plastics and clothing to create a new, futuristic and polo shirt that reflects the brand's heritage. “I discovered these latex-coated colorful gardening gloves a few years ago and started collecting them, but I haven’t found any use for them until now.” Young said, “When I started the LACOSTE project, I knew I had Find a good opportunity to explore this technology." PLASTIC POLO was born.

Young designed a polo shirt with crocodile lifelike patterns that swam from the front to the back. Instead of the screen-printing process, the heat-activated ink is applied directly to the mesh cotton cloth and then baked to foam it into a thick plastic imitation crocodile skin.

The PLASTIC POLO men's and women's collections come in a total of seven colors and are packaged in plastic trays that can be used repeatedly in everyday life as a storage box or plate. It will be sold at the LACOSTE flagship store around November.

Young also designed a super limited series called PLASTIC POLO+. After covering the crocodile pattern with a metal foil film, it was hot-pressed to leave a decadent, vintage feel. There are 1000 pieces of PLASTIC POLO+ for men and women. There are two color combinations: silver black and white gold. Packaged in reusable black metal trays, it is sold in multi-brand stores such as Colette in Paris, Dover Street Market in London, and Isetan in Tokyo since October. Taiwan's Qing Ting and the world to sell first!
