Paraxylene is an important organic chemical raw material. In order to open up a new technical route for the production of para-xylene by toluene alkylation, and extend the joint research of the Institute of Petroleum and Chinese Academy of Sciences for five years, the first set of 10,000 tons/year of toluene and methanol was built in the Yan'an Petrochemical Plant of Yanchang Petroleum Group. According to reports, the 10,000-ton industrial test equipment was put into operation in April this year, and the 72-hour industrial test was completed in September. The results showed that the conversion rate of toluene was 26.42%; the conversion rate of methanol was 93.27%; the technical indicators reached the international leading level.
