In the first half of the year Korean textiles decreased by 0.8%

According to statistics, in the first six months of this year, South Korea’s textile exports amounted to US$2.5 billion, a decrease of 0.8% over the same period of last year.

From January to June of this year, South Korea imported 1.5 billion U.S. dollars of textiles, a year-on-year increase of 1.5%. In the first half of the year, Korea’s textile trade achieved a surplus of one billion U.S. dollars. According to the first half of 2013 released by Korea's Ministry of Industry, Energy and Trade, Korea's trade data for raw materials and some industries show that South Korea has achieved a trade surplus of US$48.3 billion, making it the best performer in the history of six months. Despite the decline in Korean textile exports from January to June, the export of industrial raw materials increased by 5.2%. It is reported that in 2012, South Korea achieved a trade surplus of 2 billion U.S. dollars, textile exports totaled 4.9 billion U.S. dollars, and textiles imported 2.9 billion U.S. dollars.
